Liverpool FC - Manchester City Match thread!

The international break is over and it's time for real football again! For a change it wasn't too bad for us though. Quite a number of players had time to recover and are now ready to play against City. Looks like it's now "only" Torres who's still missing. Now all we need those players to do is put in one hell of a performance and beat the richest club in world football. Despite all the setbacks we had this season, it's still only the 13th game of the season and there are still more than 70 points to be won. I for one haven't completely written us off yet. I expect to see a similar performance to the one against Birmingham. We showed a lot of passion and desire and were really unlucky not to have won in the end. It's very important for the players to hold their heads up high and keep performing at that level.
Both teams have had a bit of a rough patch recently so I expect this to be a game where anything can happen. What's important is that we go out there wanting to win this bloody game!!

The Reds XI in full is: Reina, Skrtel, Carragher, Agger, Insua, Mascherano, Lucas, Kuyt, Gerrard, Babel, Ngog. Subs: Cavalieri, Aquilani, El Zhar, Aurelio, Riera, Benayoun, Kyrgiakos.

Line-up:

Reina

Carragher - Skrtel - Agger - Insua

Mascherano - Lucas

Kuyt - Gerrard - Babel

N'Gog

Fairly strong line-up. Don't like Carra at right back. With Kuyt in front of him the right side doesn't look very fruitful. Still hope that Kuyt will perform better than he has so far this season. Time for Babel to prove his worth (once again). Hope N'Gog keeps his perfomance up. Good to see Gerrard back in there as well as Riera and Yossi back on the bench.

Now come on lads, we really need those 3 points, so let's fucking do this!!

Quite strong on paper. Shame Johnson did'nt make it, not going to get as much going forward from Carra.
Lets hope todays the day we get our season back on track!!

Lets do it!!!

By the way, any streams yet? in work so the bloody firewall will probably block them anyway, but its worth trying!!

The team is very limited creatively, but its good to see Benny and Riera both making the bench, I expected them both out for at least a month when they pulled up.

Gerrard needs one of his insperational games, I hope its not too soon to expect that from him.

City's line-up is:
Given; Zabeleta; Bridge; Toure; Lescott; De Jong; Barry; Ireland; SWP; Bellamy; Adebayor.

Hm! Defence looks too light again to me

Bench: Taylor; Onuoha; Weiss; Kompany; Johnson; Santa Cruz and Tevez.

A good bench (apart from Rocky) and really pleased to see Onuoha getting back to fitness. He's a much more solid option in defence.

Yes, at this point, I'll still take a point if offered, please.

Not a good team for me. Reira or Benny on the left babel on the right. Defence doesn't look inspiring Midfield looks one dimensional. Hope I'm wrong. Come on Liverpool.

Really hate to it but City do appear to have a stronger starting 11 on paper. Thank

Team is prob the best we can put out considering injuries and easing players back into the team.

Lot of room for manoeuvre I think with Babel, Kuyt, Gerrard all able to switch their positions if needed through the game.

Am confident we can pull it off, and with Stevie back in the team, our chances are doubled.

BTW if anyone is interested in stats throughout the game and is online rather than watching on TV, our official site has a pretty good match-day centre if you can overcome the City bias.

Hope this post/link does not offend anyone as it's intended to be helpful, but I respect the mods rights to remove it if it does.

I think some people will find it useful. Sorry, can't wish you best of luck though. Hope your team gets whooped!
