Went last night to the Ricoh, great performance by Oasis,
The Enemy were absolutely brilliant while Twisted Wheel were not bad, never heard any of their stuff before last night
Anyway
For all the Liverpool lads/girls on here - the first band on were from Liverpool, called Free Peace, Anybody seen them ? thought they were quite good, glad we were in early enough to catch them (as us old uns would say 'a catchy little beat combo' sorry)

I heard Carragher was there too! Also heard Liam said something like 'the best Sky blues team is MCFC' and it riled some people (coventry&everton fans) up :D
Anyway, gonna go on Saturday, at Wembley! Can't wait! Are The Enemy worth going to early (cause I'd have to go well in advance to catch them too)?

Personally speaking, The Enemy are laughable runty no marks and their last album verges on a piss take.

i dont mind the enemy, like a bad The Jam, nothing original
then again, Oasis aren't exactly Musical pioneers

yes thats right about the sky blues crack, got booed big time so give them the v and wondered off.
Noel introduced the drummer as "from Liverpool" I was waiting for some smart arse scouser remark but it never came
As for The Enemy I thought they were tremendous but they may have been up for it more as it was their home gig. I wanted to see Kasabian but they were not there for some reason.
Thought Twisted Wheel were more like The Jam and also you could hear the Clash in here as well

"We'd like to dedicate this one to the real Sky Blues, MCFC." That was before Cigarettes and Alcohol.
Didn't see much of The Enemy as we got there 15 minutes late then went to get a beer after a few songs and the queue was fucking huge! Was supposed to be in London tonight for them but didn't go :(

Was on Saturday at Wembley and what a concert that was!?! One of the best I've ever seen, especially the atmosphere (despite the rain). On Don't Look Back in Anger, the crowd sang from the first word to the last (without any help from Noel). Just incredible!

Saw Oasis back in December at Madison Square Garden... brilliant times. Brits and Americans together arm and arm signing Don't Look Back in Anger. They must have played about 23 songs including I am the Walrus.
I had tickets for their US 2005 tour with Jet & Kasabian but wasn't able to make it and had to give my tickets to a friend. I hope that Kasabian comes stateside soon because they're a band that I'd love to see live.

I haven't been to Emirates, but I must say, this new Wembley is huge. Especially felt this the first time I've been there, for the AC/DC concert, and I was up in the stands. It's actually the second biggest stadium in Europe (after Nou Camp), isn't it?

More the fact that it feels like going to the cinema and with more emphasis on how much popcorn and hotdogs they can sell than filling the stadium with any kind of character.
Does anyone build rectangle stadiums anymore?
These places just feel like non-smoking, multi-storey car parks, with a patch of grass in the middle.
Redbrandt
15th July 2009, 01:44 AM
well, considering it cost something like a billion to build, they'd better sell all the popcorn and hotdogs they can if they wanna recoup the investment anytime soon! :p
and yeah, it does look like a multi-store cinema building or something, but I guess that's how all the new stadiums look or will be looking like. if and when our new stadium will be built, it's no question it will be the same in terms of emphasis being put on the commercial side. 300-500mil will not be recouped just by the tickets sold or the investing sponsors, unless we wanna pay 30 years for it.
going to such a stadium now is like an all inclusive deal. all that's left is to ensure you the transport as well!
as for Wembley, I would have kept the 2 towers in some way. for a modern stadium it doesn't look bad, but it would have been great had they managed to maintain the history at the same time.

Fucking is right!
I went on Saturday night with 5 Bloo mates - they'd all been for their semi and the final and had been saying how amazing it was, I walked out the tube station, took in the scene and commented "it's just a big fucking Reebok".
Sounds like Saturday at Wembley was by far the best night, it was the best I've seen them in 10 gigs.
Personally thought Kasabian were average, had been really looking forward to seeing them live but when i did it just dawned on me that most of their songs sound the same! Well to me anyway.
What do you mean by the way, couldn't smoke? Is it no smoking in Wembley? I must have been in a 1-man smoking section then ;)

Mate, I was first row on the sides. If i'd been in the middle/on the pitch I'd have had no problems but I was sat there with umpteen stewards clocking me for the best part of 4 hours unable to spark one up. Not impressed.
With regards our ground/any plans we have for a new one, I liked that plan I saw with the big fuck off Kop that just looked like a great big vertical wall of seats. ie square - none of this superbowl american shite.
I won't be in a hurry to return....unless of course.....:D

I agree. Kasabian are not bad, but their songs sound pretty much the same.
As for Oasis and Saturday night, Noel seems to agree: http://www.live4ever.us/newsroom.html (the first article). I just hope they recorded it and they'll put it on dvd. That was a classic (especially that version of DLBIA)!

I think evs sums it up well. They are living of 94/95. Theyve never came anywhere near repeating that, I cant understand at all how theyve lasted this long. Pure class!
So many to choose from but a couple of personal favourites.
"Sunday Bloody Sunday. What a great song. It really encapsulates the frustration of a Sunday, doesn't it? You wake up in the morning, you've got to read all the Sunday papers, the kids are running round, you've got to mow the lawn, wash the car, and you just think 'Sunday, bloody Sunday!'.
‘Well Sonja, that was classic intercourse.’
'If you see a lovely field with a family having a picnic, and a nice pond in it, you fill in the pond with concrete, you plow the family into the soil, you blow up the tree, and use the leaves to make a dress for your wife who is also your brother.'
'Lynne, some of these people have come from Stoke.'
"Big Yellow Taxi there by Joni Mitchell, a song in which she complains that they 'paved paradise to put up a parking lot' - a measure which actually would have alleviated traffic congestion on the outskirts of paradise. Something which Joni singularly fails to point out, perhaps because it doesn't quite fit in with her blinkered view of the world. Nevertheless, nice song."
ok more than a couple but hedyho!!

I'd be stuck between a rock and a hard place with that one. As much as I have little respect for the big-headed, moderately talented, uni-browed mancunian, I'd probably want him to sing the song as that's what I would have paid for. I wouldn't fork out money to listen to tens of thousands of other blerts groaning away.

Oasis singer Liam Gallagher walked off stage during a gig in London on Tuesday night after pints of beer were thrown at him.
The 36-year-old stormed off after saying to fans: "I hope you feel as uncomfortable as I feel."
Brother Noel, 42, who carried on with the set by singing Masterplan, said: "I think someone's in a bad mood."
Liam returned to the stage at the Roundhouse in Camden, London, after an absence of almost half an hour.
Fans attending the iTunes Festival gig, which was also broadcast live on radio station XFM, posted their reaction on the Twitter website.
Oasis at Roundhouse was brilliant
Fan Emma Mitchell on Twitter
Rob Ramsey said Liam had accused students in "stupid pointy shoes" of hurling the beer.
And the Camden New Journal newspaper twittered that the star was "throwing a tantrum because Camden students soaked his stage with beer".
However, diehard fans did not seem disappointed by the walk-out.
Emma Mitchell wrote: "Oasis at Roundhouse was brilliant."
On a page devoted to the iTunes Festival on website Facebook, Steven Buss wrote: "What an amazing night. Forgot what a stroppy sod Liam could be. Loved it."
It is not the first time Liam has lost his temper with the crowd.
Earlier this month, Noel called his brother "hilarious but quite undignified" after he told fans to stop clapping at a concert in Coventry.
Oasis are expected to play on Friday at the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan.
