Photo enhancement software

Anyone know of any decent free software for touching up an old photo? My dad has one that he wants to arse about with, but it ain't worth him buying anything as it's unlikely he'll ever use it again.

A program called the Gimp (http://www.gimp.org/) is a free photoshop like application, could give that a go. If you are only using it once, I think Photoshop do a free 30 day trial on their website.

Take Gimp. It is free and for basic stuff, you need nothing else.

Thanks for the replies people. I'd entirely forgotten about this thread.

In the end the old man just took it in somewhere and let someone else do it for him which, given the amount of technical calls I field from him normally, would appear to be the wise thing to do.

Go to www.jumbo.com or www.download.com and do a search for a product called Photo Toolkit. It's not a full blown editor like Gimp or Photoshop, but it's got a great set of easy-to-use tools for cleaning up photos - in particular portraits. Removing blemishes, whitening teeth, adding lighting that simulates flash from one or more directions, erasing wrinkles, removing redeye etc. Well worth a look and something I use from time to time even though I have the full Photoshop and Lightroom products.
