LLANFAIR SLATE CAVERNS A496 Llanfair, towards Harlech. Tel: 01766 780247. Put on a helmet and descend into the tunnels and caverns hacked out by candlelight over a century ago.
they don't have a website but u can check it out on google earth... u can see people trying to drive on to 'shell island' when the tide's coming in (it covers the causeway cutting the 'island' off)... we found this site by accident having driven away from shell island and the impending doom of sinking...
also, the view of the sun setting over the other side of cardigan bay towards pwllhelli is just beautifull... on a clear night u can see the stars go on for ever...

Dorothea Quarry is only a mile or two away from Llanfair, well worth an hour or two having a walk round.

Heading to Llanberis soon as I want to crawl up Snowdon.
Pindale farm in hope valley is a good site - plenty of room and you don't need to book.
The Mucky Duck pub Newton on Rawcliffe Yorks is another good one.

Probably. I mean the missus is the one really into walking. I just sort of turn up. Live in the peak district so we're spoilt when it comes to walks.

I've never been camping with a caravan or so... But I really like roadtrips and we always "just" bring a nice tent - I absolutely love it.
Obviously I've been all over Denmark, but I've been around Normandy twice, and I find it truely magnificent, despite the tourists. I've been to The Alps twice as well - and it is very nice as well, but quite cold at night:D...
Once I went to St. Tropez, but in the summer it's quite hot in a tent:rolleyes:, Also our camping barbercue was forbidden because of the risk of fire, so we drove on after a couple of days...
But I would suggest anyone to go to Normandy or The Alps for their next comping holiday...:)

Haven't camped for ages. Spent three months camping in the same spot on Skye, close to Portree. Fantastic views of the Cuillins and Ben Tianavaig every day.
Saw some cracking sights from there too, a massive rockfall (a piece of rock about the size of three semi-detatched houses fell off the cliff nearby ripping out trees and throwing them into the air). White-tailed eagles (8 foot wingspan), otters, marvellous. Midges were a bunch of bastards though.

near blechingdon... just off the m40 bicester turn off... tbh, it was just another campsite, nowt special just wanted to be nearer to legoland windsor... there is a campsite in the village where we saw the music festival though, hook norton (near chipping norton) and that place is just lovely... pure middle-england... it has a serious brewery and there's a real ale festival soon, if yer into that sort of thing...

all that sounds great eising... only camped once in scotland (though i lived up there for a couple of years), did a gig at a festival near castle douglas in the hills there... top stuff...
will be back at the 'triangle rough hey' campsite in a couple of weeks time... then off onto wales later in the summer...

You can safely rule out Llanberis. Not an single actual pub in the village. Walked up snowdon in 2.5 hours - the guy in the tent next to me ran up in and back down in a shade over an hour forty.

... can't believe it was so long since we last went camping... this weekend was boss... near euxton for the best vw show (factoid)... met a lad from huddersfield with a very nice golf cabriolet, then he went off to the bolton game for a nice 3-2 win for us... saw some nice early baywindow busses and the caberet 'turns' were alright...

I had a lovely couple of days on the welsh borders last week.
First night camped just outside Ludlow and sampled a lovely venison pie in a local hostelry, which went down beautifully with one of the 7 real ales on tap.
Then it was off to Hay on Wye and walk up to the top of Lord Hereford's knob. Above the cloud in the Black Mountains. Great stuff. This aided by a trusty bottle of Thwaites Wainwright Ale for me and an Aspalls premier Cru for Mrs Mozz ;)

... went to the old nags head with me lad and asked him what we're drinking... he has a lemonade (with extra lemon, he's 5...) and he orders me a 'nags black ale'... not a fizzy beer drinker meself but i have to say... it was pretty flavoursome... pleasantly surprised... nice...
btw... it's would probably taste even better if u mixed it with jack daniels and coke...*
*runs and hides from the 'real ale police'...

Was at least one last time I was there (in 1999, bloody hell, ten years ago). Walked down from Y Eryri the train way, got to the bottom and it was across the road.
