BIGGEST FUCK UP EVER ALERT....

Julian Simon leading the 125's at his home grand prix (Catalunya), a lap to go, he crosses the line and thinks he's won. Six riders pass him as he prematurely celebrates down the home straight.:o:o

(All due respect he did manage to drag it back to 4th)

Unbelievable. Never seen anything like it.:D:o:D

WOW I just caught the last 5 laps of the main event. There was more excitement in those laps alone than the whole F1 season. That late braking at the end of the main straight and the final pass just shows the class of Rossi.

The Doctor came calling and Gorgeous George ended up in out-patients.

I fucking love you Vale laaaaaaaa.

Jonboy, saw Plater win the Senior race (and a few other bits and bobs). Makes the GP riders look like F1 nancy boy's.;) Some of the new camera shots were incredible and the weather was kind enough to produce some of the best racing I've seen in years. Amazing spectacle and any bike fan should go there at leats once in their lives.

V.emotional seeing Dunlop jnr win too.:cool:

I just watched the last 4 laps of the main race again.

I like Rossi and Lorenzo, so as long as they both finished I was happy.

But, when the 3rd-last lap finished, and Lorenzo went past Rossi on the inside of the straight, for a second I assumed he would have the lead going into the penultimate lap, but, and I know Rossi can leave it late on the brakes, when Rossi left it so late on the brakes at the end of that straight that he nearly went to bed before he hit the bend, when he had to tuck his right knee in to get past Lorenzo at the VERY END of the straight.......and then he kept it tight and kept the lead as he went around the corner.......................................

The overtake on the last corner was supreme, but the overtake at the end of the start/finish straight on the beginning of the penultimate lap, after just being overtaken - was possibly one of the greatest moves I've ever seen.

I'm off to BBC iPlayer to watch it again :D

Duc - just finished watching the 125's - had to tape it sunday, Simon what a twat (Julian that is not Pieman:)) anyone know the Spanish for plank, good news for Bradley Smith though.

I did watch the GP monday morning having dodged the result, If there is a God I bet he's got a yellow T shirt with 46 on it, just when you think you've seen him do it all back he comes again, the knee move just amazing.
Watching him & George Lawrence going at it reminded me of Laguna Seca last year when Vale showed Stoner who was the boss
(do think Jorge is the king in waitin though but not quite just yet)

Meh, it was a big banner granted. We do it better though.;)

When I was living in Amsterdam I went Assen. It's one of the best weekends you can have mate, especially when the weather's like it is. Can't recommend it enough.

Another brilliant days racing, kicked off by the the 125's in style (again). If Bradley gets a chance to ride 250's next year, future still looks bright with young Scott Redding and Danny Webb. I'm buzzing about that.

The way Bradders gave Ianone the fist over the line suggests that boy's developing into quite some racer (still only 17 don't forget!). Didn't think he had the balls to start with and Simon's still fave for the Championship imo but I can't fuckin wait for the next round already. Been a long time since I can say that.

Good to see Toseland get a half decent result too. Your boss standing over your shoulder for three days, usually does tend to give you a kick up the arse.:D

No he didn't.
He actually was helped to his feet and taken to a hospital where he later died of the head injuries he had suffered.
Tragic.

RIP Henry.

Last walk in the park as MotoGP makes Donington swansong
Wednesday, 22 July 2009

British Grand Prix takes place this weekend with honour on the line.

This Sunday sees the end of an era in the MotoGP World Championship, as the series makes its final visit to Donington Park for the British Grand Prix. The venue has played host to some classic races in all classes and, with competition at a breathtaking level in 2009, expect another thriller on Sunday 26th July.

World Championship leader Valentino Rossi has his own fond memories of Donington Park, the scene of his first premier class victory back in 2000. He hasn’t won at the track since 2005, but is undoubtedly capable of ending the drought in front of a crowd that have always been heavily behind the six-time MotoGP World Champion.

Rossi holds a fourteen point advantage at the head of the standings, adding a fourth win to his 2009 tally with victory in Germany just days ago. His principal challenge so far this year has been Fiat Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo, whom he ousted for the triumph in Sachsenring by just 0.099. Lorenzo has won once at Donington Park, in the 2006 250cc race, and placed sixth at the track last year, although previous form counts for little when talking about the flying Spaniard on a run of six consecutive podium finishes.

A further fourteen points separates Ducati Marlboro’s Casey Stoner from the head of the overall classification. The Australian is still out of sorts with a mystery illness, but has kept up his title challenge with some gritty performances over the past month. Off the podium for the past two races in the 2009 season, a return to Donington Park gives Stoner the chance to win his third Grand Prix in as many years on British soil –however much he might dislike the track.

Dani Pedrosa’s bid for the MotoGP crown has picked up as his own physical problems have healed, but the Repsol Honda man is still very much the outside bet of the top four. He needs to pull back forty points just to catch up with third-placed Stoner. Pedrosa’s last win in Britain came back in his rookie season of 2006, riding the 990cc RC211V.

The British Grand Prix is a home race for James Toseland, who has double motivation to get a good result on race day. The Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider is racing for his future in the MotoGP World Championship, and also has some demons to put to bed following his first lap crash at last year’s race on the Derbyshire-Leicestershire border. Toseland won both 2007 races at Donington in superbike competition.

Although Marco Melandri has since relocated to Italy, the former MotoGP World Championship runner-up can also count this weekend’s round as a home race. He spent a handful of years living just a stone’s throw from the track before the start of this year. He is currently sixth in the standings, behind Toseland’s teammate Colin Edwards.

The British Grand Prix takes place on Sunday 26th July, with practice sessions beginning the preceding Friday.

It was wet, cold, windy and downright miserabble but the racing was in a different class of it's own, it really was. You can stick your F1, your WorldSuperBikes, your Tour De France, your NASCAR and your WRC up your arse. MOTO GP is boss and will continue to be the Blue Ribband trophy for all motorsports men and women for a long time to come.

Young Scott Redding got a well-deserved podium in the 125's to go with his race win from this time last year. Hopefully that will see him get a bigger and better ride next year.

I actually fell asleep during the 250's. Bit of a late one Satdee evo and it caught up with me big time but I managed to wake up for the top class where Rossi was immense. You'd expect that from the greatest living sportsman but to slide off with 10 laps to go and manage to finish 5th beggars belief. Great debut win for Dovi and a well-earned 6th place for James Toseland sent most of us home happy,

As a sidenote I rode up there on me bike as always which was fine (as was leaving) but it took my Dad who drove up there, 3 and 3/4 hours to leave the carpark and another 3 hours to get down the M1 to the M25 (probably 100 miles tops).

Good luck with the F1 there next year.

(will try and sort some piccies at lunch)
