On SkyArts Channel 256 last night they had a programme on called 'From The Basement' which does what it says on the tin: bands playing live in a basement.
Q.O.T.S.A. were on and I thought they were absolutely fucking BRILLIANT, like a sort of Led Zep/Beatles hybrid. I was mesmerised, having only really heard 'No One Knows' before.
Anyway, any fans on the board? Anyone recommend which album I start with?

I fucking love them. Best band in the world for me. I'd start with their best album, Songs For The Deaf. Enjoy the ride.;)
Do you know if that programme is being shown again?

Evs,
They're superb. I'd agree with Red Corner, best band in the world.
'Rated R' and 'Songs For The Deaf' are absolute classics. You're in for a treat! :)

I would've thought so yeah, they tend to show everything a couple of times on there and last night's was the last in the series apparently.
I'm off work for a while so as soon as I catch it again i'll bump this.
I was bowled over by their power.

Listen to 'Go with the flow'.
Obvious to recommend but still class.
Or 'Misfit Love'.*
They are easily the best band in the world though. Easily.
* Anyone who listens to them would probably sit here an say "or listen to" about nearly every song.

If you`re a tad adventureous try the mother band; Kyuss, out of which a couple of the members of Q.O.T.S.A. came from originally. They produced a few albums but the two best are `Blues For The Red Sun` and `And The Circus Leaves Town` ...... awesome!!!

Disagree.
I would put the albums in the following order...
1. Songs for the Deaf
2. Lullabies to Paralyze
3. Era Vulgaris
4. Rated R
Fav tracks gotta be Something's in the Wolf, River in the Road, Noone Knows, Little Sister and ....... Too many to mention!
I'll have to look into Kyuss too. Anything like QOTSA is always worth a look. Anyone know if Eagles of Death Metal are any good?

Whatever you do, don't tell anyone, but I really do like The lost art of keeping a secret: for me their best track. The live version on Songs for the Deaf is boss.

Agreed. Its very good. I also like the other live track on there (actually, not sure its live...) which is a cover of 'Everybody's gonna to be happy'. I was listening to the album for a while, convinced i'd heard the song before, it must've taken me a good few weeks to clock that it was a kinks song. Very good version.
I like the cold war kids first album (they were on that show too) but didn't really dig them on there.

Watched it last night.
Didn't think much to the cold war kids singers voice, but the Malysian girl was pretty good I think.
Totally other end of the spectrum from QOTSA though eh?!
