I'm off to Aintree tonight and, knowing beggar all about horseracing, thought I'd better swot up, so as to lose my money in a more efficient and confident manner.
I can understand a little on the racing pages - ie. I know it shows the form down the left-hand side, the jockey's name is in bold on the right, but what are all these numbers showing next to the owner's name? I'm guessing it's something to do with the weight/handicap?
You'd think the papers'd have some sort of key to this stuff, for numbnuts like myself, but I can't find anything in today's Post or online, for that matter (though, as work blocks anything and everything to do with gambling on t'interweb, a fat lot of good Googling would do me anyway )
