After the Eurphoria of the weekend how dissappoiting will it be if we don't beat Stoke, infact on a scale of importance I would suggest that I would rather lose tonight and win on Saturday rather than the other way round ?

To make the result on Saturday count we have to capatilise by beating Stoke?

Am I talking sense or out of saggy behind :)

This early in the season, and the fact that we havent lost a game, it isnt necessarilly vital.

But it would be handy.

Id prefer winning both games thank you very much! ;) I'd settle for scrappy 1-0 wins tonight and vs Stoke if need be.
With United playing Chelsea on the weekend, one of our main rivals will drop points, so we have to pick up all 3.

In the league, every 3 points are vital.

I was going to say something very similar so I may as well just quote you. ;)
We could be top of the league next weekend as you point out our main rivals play each other (Arsenal excluded) and we have a team from which we should be able to get all three points, a banker if you like although as we are all too aware nothing is guaranteed in Football!!

Having seen Rory Delap and his missiles from the touch line I have a question...
Q: Can you score directly from a throw-in?

I'd be happy with a drasw tonight & a scrappy win saturday....Stoke wont be easy but an early goal could change that we should have enough to win 2-0.

No you cant score directly from a throw in but we shouldnt be worried about that side of Stoke's attacking play.....i'd expect to take 6 points off them & the same goes for Hull / WBA.

I was thinking more on the lines of setting the tone for the season, psychologically if we beat Stoke I think that would set a marker to Arse , Chels and Mancs that this time it's for real.

Maybe I am gettig too excited so early in the season but why not !?

I don't think so. I remember playing youth footy and an opponent had a bullet throw into the box. Every time he did it towards goal, our boys just avoided it cos if it touched anyone and went in, it was deemed a goal (a la Jagielka on Saturday). If it went straight in without a touch it was an in-direct free kick in the 6 yard box.
Might be wrong though...I usually am ! :p

3 points against Stoke will be just as important

But why is there a thread on here questioning about whether we are going to get anything less than 3 points against the likes of Stoke? I mean seriously, the lads have just been Utd and that should prove that they are capable of beating anyone in the league

On a secondary note, if Chelsea do draw with Utd and we win and go top, I hope we don't then suffer from a raised expectation level. Last season the pressure got to our lads and we suffered a massive dip in form in November and then had all the trouble behind the scenes with the owners and Klinsmann

I'd be quite happy for Chelsea to stay on top or even Arsenal and us tucked in nicely just behind the leaders so that we maintain the pressure rather than having it on us this early as the leaders

You're not wrong.

Throw-in
A throw-in is awarded when the whole ball crosses the touch line (conceded by the team who last touched the ball). It is delivered off the field of play with both hands and from behind and over the deliverer’s head. Otherwise it is deemed to be a ‘foul throw’ and a throw-in is given to the opposition. It cannot go direct to the goalkeeper’s hands (if on the same team) and you cannot score directly from a throw-in

Forgot to mention. Lets win both games, nothing less will be good enough!!

It will be interesting to see how one of the newly promoted teams does against one of the top four. Ive actually been really impressed with all of them so far, but I dont think come match day there will be any problems. 3-0 Keane and riera

At the first slip the press will be all over us like a rash, we need to get off to a winning start in the Champions League and win on Saturday and every game after that.
