It's a bit long but well worth the read.
He really does tell it like it is as far as how much money has been plowed into newcastle and it does help to show how ungrateful the newcastle fans are.

If only our owners had as much regard for us, e.g. refused to take out loans on our club, we might not be in as much of a mess at ownership level as we so obviously are.

I commented on this subject on the thread on off topic - Ashley says he's not in it for the money, but has put the club up for sale for £400m after buying it for £135m?

The man is a complete gobshite. On one hand he says the Newcastle fans are the best in the world but then he says he fears they will attack his young son.
He chose to buy the club. He chose to bring in Dennis Wise.

didnt look in the "off-topic" section of the board (seeing as it's for anything not football related!) Sorry about the double thread if it is one.

Wasn't complaining about the double threads - just that Ashley is a gobshite, like ALR suggests.

King Kev 1 my arse.

You can blame me for that

It just goes to show that in the current climate, being 'just' a multi-millionaire isn't enough to run a football club. Before long, the Premiership will be 20 clubs owned by billionaires

I'm not on about the man and his personality just as a club owner.

You have to take it on face value that if things hadn't gone tits up with the fans, he would have been there for many years.

I was just trying to point out the amount of his own money that he plowed into the club and how he didn't want to further laiden the club with even more debt - unlike our owners.

Mike Ashley made a good point the other day. He said that the reason Keegan wasn't fully in control of transfers was because of the huge amount previous managers had spent in the last few years. Look where all that spending got them. I don't blame him for being cautious with his money and at least he has listened to the fans and agreed to sell up. If only G+H would follow his example...

If only our owners could take notice in the same way at the demonstrations against them and sell up. The big difference here is that Mike Ashley is a fan of the club and goes to the games

Our owners are based in the US and therefore have a big distance seperating them from our club and us, the fans. To them, our club is just another part of the business franchise

I don't have any sympathy or apathy towards Ashley, but I do believe his comments re. Newcastle's debt. Their last management were irresponsible with the club's finances and if he has saved the club from going down the same path as Leeds, then the fans need to realise that and be grateful they still have a club in the premier league whose games they can still watch

If he didn't trust Keegan to manage the club he shouldn't have hired him. It was the other poor appointments they made that pissed their money up the wall, not Keegan.

Ashley is from Buckinghamshire and was intensely private and reclusive, and only became a "fan" who went to games in a Newcastle top after he'd purchased the club.
