Any LFC win please!!!
No doubt the usual top-four dour war of attrition will continue whereby the odd flukey tap-in or defensive blunder will decide it.
(Unless of course the ref is a secret lover of Fergie as last years Away leg proved!)

hmmm, away leg... interesting idea.
what if every home and away fixture throughout the season was a two leg'd match?
so there would be 19 games a season, each with two legs... no away goal ruling. same amount of points given for win, loss and draw as currently is.
what the fuck am i going on about?

...don't beat yourself up. The F.A. are probably trying to call you as I type!.
Seriuosly tho, we are due a bit of luck. It's been a while. I'm sure I'll get slated for this but Rafa is under pressure to get a result from this fixture.

I don't think you are alone in thinking along those lines, Tommy Smith was talking about getting 0 points for a 0-0 draw saying that teams should be encouraged to score goals and go for the win. Its an idea I agree with but I'm not so sure about what it would do to the game as a whole. Maybe a better idea would be to give 2 points for a score draw!? He also said that he would like teams who win by 4+ goals to get a bonus point so that teams keep playing right to the end of 90 minutes still going for goals. Its a great idea in theory but again would it work in practise?
How about if we make it so that you got a bonus point if you won home and away? I think when a team turns out to just sit with 10 or 11 behind the ball and grind out a draw thats not really football and in a way is anti-football, in a two-legged tie a draw away is a good thing but in a league situation unless you are scrapping for relegation then 1 point doesn't really make that much of a difference. Instead of punishing teams who draw we should reward teams who entertain and score goals so maybe there is someting there that could be looked into? Do you remember when teams only got 2 points for a win and they changed it to 3? Maybe it shouldn't be messed with at all, like the old saying: If it aint broke, don't fix it!

Torres is winning his race to be fit according to the offal.
"Fernando Torres is winning his race to be fit in time to face Man Utd.
Torres was forced off after half an hour against Aston Villa last week with a hamstring tear. The striker was a major doubt for the game against Manchester United this Saturday.
However, Torres has responded well to treatment and Liverpool's medical staff are hopeful the Spaniard will be fit to play this weekend."

It was when they were scared of coming to Anfield - the good old days - not like now when they just swan around taking the piss.

oh and kuyt will still be shit apparently....

I love it, lets have a hypothetical argument about a game that hasn't happened yet. You'll also note I never said he was great....
Would it make you feel better, if I said they bossed the game in the first half and we snuck in a lucky one late on. We came out in the second half to get at the united dominance of possession, and Kuyt's ability to hassle and harry the defenders into mistakes created the opening for the break that lead to the penalty, which he was confident enough to step up and slam into the top right hand corner...
I'll try get my predictions more acurate next time to avoid the confusion :p

I would be happy if we remained unbeaten after this weekend.
I don't think we have to beat the other sides in the big four but losing will be a real blow, particularly so at home.
0-0 would be okay. I'd love us to finally get one over on them in the league, and were it not be for our poor start i probably would be optimistic of our chances.
You never do know though. It'll be interesting playing them without Quieroz in charge.

I thought the same thing, will Ferguson be able to live with Rafa now his tactical advisor has gone?
United get their aggressive, dominant attacking style from Ferguson, they got their defensive solidity and tactical awareness from Carlos Quieroz.
An opinion, i hope i'm right......

Liverpool 1-0 Manchester United
'56 Keane
Man United are going to pay extra attention to Torres allowing Keane the space to open his account. I don't see Torres and especially Gerrard making the entire 90. Have a feeling Ngog will come on for Torres and Lucas for Gerrard once we go ahead. Rafa will then go ultra defensive and try to kill off the rest of the match.
It's a little after 3:15 AM New York (EST) time. I'm too excited to get any sleep... counting down the hours until kickoff. Can't wait until our boys get their chance to prove to all the doubters, cynics and their rivals that LFC means business this year.

He'll have to do it coming off the bench. Wouldn't put it past him though, I'd love to see Fergie face after Torres burns them for two quick goals after he comes on.
