Watched this last night. Pretty brutal violence it has to be said, but not the movie just not as good as I was expecting. It was good, but the reviews do make it out to be great.

Nev have ye seen The Kingdom yet? Fuck-in-hell! That is bloody brutal! The opening 10-15 mins are just some of the most bloody horrific scenes I've ever seen in a film! I'm not a pussy when it comes to movies at all, I'll watch anything, stayed up to watch 30 Days of Nights recently, that was horrific, but in a different way (don't watch it!), anyway my Wife wanted it turned off straightaway because it was so bad, I had to agree really, its something you have to be in the mood for. I will give it another watch some day, I reckon it could be a brilliant movie but I'll be watching that one on my own!

BTW, I've seen 30 Days Of Night. It's bloodthirsty (literally) but in a comical way. Another movie that was not quite as good as the hype.

Yeah it's not great is it? You never find out WHY they're there do you? Or who they are? Well i didn't anyway, I could have dozed off in fairness though. zzzzzzzzzz :D

I liked Eastern Promises, thought it was very well balanced and thought out. That naked shower room fight scene is most brutal. (Its two naked blokes, don't get excited Ohdear ;))

As for 30 days I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought it was a bit shit. Nice idea but getting Neil Tennant to play the bad guy was a bad move. Also I hate films that use such blatant set ups: ooooh is that a big grinder thing? But its right at the start of the film, wonder if it will come in handy later :rolleyes:

My wife was most disappointed. She fancied that bloke when he was in Lord Of The Rings, but she reckons he wasn't too impressive in the shower scene. I wasn't about to debate it with her.

I really enjoyed Eastern Promises.
Those Russian gangsters really made me nervous especially as they reminded me of my trip to Kiev.
It's not in the same league as some of the Scorcese gangster flicks but I found it realistically understated, with the violence just bubbling under the surface (except the shower scene).

30 days of night was ok if you didn't question things too much.
