If you "don't mind" there's no reason to respond. Straight forward question....are you in favour of the Olympics or not?

(There is a programme/debate on TV about it this evo if anyone's interested).

Just as a side note, i saw this morning that after 10 billion pounds worth of funding, they haven't arranged for a roof on the Olympic stadium....

Why wouldn't you be in favour of the olympics??.Not really going to watch it myself, but I can understand why people do,and when it's in this country it will be a great event for all involved.

Yeah,it costs money, but it brings in money and if your around it,it will be a memorable time.

Perhaps you might feel that the money involved for the re-generation of sunny Stratford is not going to affect you......

Perhaps you might feel we are incapable of organising it?

Perhaps you might feel it is a cover-up or smoke screen so to speak to sweep other issues under the carpet?

A couple to be getting on with.....

I think its a good thing that we will have the olympics here, probably because I wouldnt be as interested in it otherwise, but it should be a good event, would prefer the world cup or euro championships but the olympics will do for the moment.

In favour of the olympics as a concept, but don't particularly like the whole process of deciding who holds it. Sounds like one long junket round the world for the IOC, watching various countries grovel for the right to host the games.

Anything that inspires kids to play sport is good in my book.

In favour of it. It has been handled a bit poorly in parts but that is to be expected unfortunenatley anf imho. The rest are just conspiracy theioires.

Im in favour but feel the whole thing is getting out of control in both cost and the amount of events that keep cropping up every time the Olympics are held.I thought the original concept was purely athletics only , maybe Im wrong but where do football, tennis and now rugby come into athletics?

Anyone reckon they'll go to the London Olympics 2012?

I'd love to go for a few days but it will be the usual story with any of these events. Rip off tickets, rip off travel, rip off hotels and rip off merchandise.
But I do think it will be good for the country to stage something like this. It should give all our young athletes the boost to go and try and compete with the world's best in their home country.

I reckon it would be good to go. I'll be 20 when they come around.

But as you say the travel, hotels etc. will be a rip off.

I am very much in favour of the Olympics and i cannot wait to go to London in 2012. I hope my son will be competing as he is a keen athlete but as he is only 12 well you never know.
Some people will argue it costs a lot of money, others will argue it is only London that will benefit from it whilst the rest of the country pick up the TAB. As a spectacle it is unrivalled in sport imo.
On the downside i work work with a Greek bloke and he blames the Olympics for crippling his country financially and he is vehemently against it being held here as he is scared that he will have to move countries again to find work.
As has been said earlier, anything that gets kids into sport can only be a good thing as far as im concerned.
Lets hope we have some good athletes competing im 2012.

Thought the programme was brilliant and I was feeling pretty hungover today (Aus Floyd were awesome) so just sat watching documentaries all day (Doomsday Code, Waico Siege, 5 most deadly weapons) including the one on the Olympics.

As they so rightly pointed out the corruption aspect has always been around and this takes away from the attraction but then you only had to see that lad from China fighting through adveristy and his unbelievable spirit being rewarded to see that just that one story shows why the Olympics can be so important.

So, yes, I do want to be a part of that.

Do you want to pay for it then? We're going to get taxed up the arse down here.

That said, I'm going to watch the taekwondo as my club might get seats.
