What album(s) are you into at the moment??

Doesn't matter if it's a cd in your car, an album you have on repeat on your ipod or just something that chills you at home.

Have to say mine is Maroon 5's new album at the minute. Taking the missus to see them in November in Manchester. Should be good :)

Mine is Sir Paul's new album Memory Almost Full. I think it's his best to date. Lots of varied stuff. It almost borders on the progressive side!

Pretty good album, I must say, even though I'm not too keen on the single released - Make A Memory.

dolittle (and most of their stuff) is a precursor to nirvana's 'never mind' album...

'take me to the other side' is a phenomenal tune... saw the sonic boom guy at a small venue under the flyover when I lived in ladbroke grove... full of indie kids (myself included) but I'd gone a bit 'baggy' by then and me and a mate were probably the only ones in there on mdma... twas a good night...

That's about the size of it for me. Sonic Boom was a bit of a tosser I think, Pierce had the tunes and the ideas, although a bit limited with the latter hence a lot of Spiritualised songs sounding like each other.

I think people just seemed to get a bit bored of his dreary demeanour...

pierce got into composing tunes which kept him going...

don't know what ever happened to boom-o... ???

can't be arsed checking it out either tbh... that kinda boat sailed away from me time ago...

hmm...several I have kept listening to during the past few weeks&months

a bit reversed chronologically:

Foo Fighters - Best of (or whatever it's called) - I didn't have any CD with them, although I like them very much, so this best of couldn't have come at a better time, though there were some songs that should have been on the CD

Mumford&Sons - Sigh No More - their debut album is absolutely great; one of the best albums of the year for me, and it is especially appropriate for the Christmas season

Kings of Leon - Only By The Night - yeah, a bit (too) commercial in comparison to their other releases, but really a very good album

Shinedown - The Sound of Madness - an album that I have listened to countless times for the past 10 months or so; I just love it! Plus, every time I put some Shinedown on, it seems that I'm addicted to them and I can't really stop listening to more and more songs of theirs

Johnny Cash - Live at San Quentin (I think that's the name anyway)

Live - Throwing Coppper

And this popped up in my collection this weekend, and it has been in my car since.

REM - Automatic for the people

I don't think that's necessarily true to be honest. It's a cracking album but a precursor to Nevermind? I don't reckon. I think the other acts on Sub-Pops label were more along the lines of Nirvanas' influence. Sonic Youth, Afghan Whigs and Eugenius for a start. Now if you'd said that they were an influence on Sugar or Belly (or generally any Kristen Hirst stuff then i'd agree. :)

You're right. Listening to this album again after so many years of being in your drawer is a revelation. Cracking album. Best REM? Start a new debate!

For me it has to be Out of Time because it was my first. Sentimental I know.

Or you could do one better and go for Kyuss instead. In my opinion far better than qotsa. "Welcome to Sky Valley" or "...And the Circus Leaves Town" are two good places to start, presuming you dont already listen to them geo!:)

Just got the new(est) Alice in Chains album today, really enjoying it sofar.
That, Biffy Clyro "Only Revolutions" and Refused's "The Shape of Punk to Come" are doing the rounds in the car at the minute!

The Pixies were defenitely an influence on Nirvana. The whole quiet/loud thing which the Pixies practically pioneered at the time can be seen throughout Nevermind at the very least. Also Cobain said himself that Smells Like Teen Spirit was his attampt at a Pixies song.

Anyway on my walks to and from uni this week I have been listening to Loveless by My Bloody Valentine. An album so good it practically bankrupted the label making it.

the first song sounds like yer record player is fucked though... ;-)

I have a charvel surfcaster (like on the front cover) and it's brill...

as for those other bands, I've not listened to a load of new 'loud' music... prefer me reggae and m.o.r. jazz like zero 7...

Its a great album alright. Definitley a grower too so if you liked it first time round you'll be mad about it after a few weeks! Their other stuff isnt quite as good but "Songs to fan the flames of Discontent" is worth a listen.
