Are you ready for cheap tv, tacky presenting and poor ideas?
Then you are ready for Big Brother!
Want to see a lapdancer and a WI member in the same house?
How about a former illegal immigrant and a BNP member?
or a Sex mad flamboyant gay and a shy closet poof?
Yes it's wife-swap tacky.
Take 2 complete opposites and film them in a prison for 12 weeks, then take away the food and beds to "Really spice it up"... etc etc
Same old crap, same old plots, same old mismatches of society...
I'll still end up watching it! :p :D

I saw the American Big Brother one season and they did it very differently.
1) The housemates compete to become head of the house, there's no voting by the public, it's all down to those in the house. They have great games or sports to play where the sex/stamina of the house-mates is levelled out... the winner gets 1 week as the head of the house.
2) The Head of the house gets all the treatment, Jaccuzzi, huge bed, food & drink whenever... and it's up to the other housemates to get on their good side. You see so much sucking up and then the same people slag them off behind their backs, it's great to watch.
3) The head then chooses who gets evicted but it's cleverer than you think... Because you know that someone is your rival but you also know that if you evict him/her, her friend might do the same to you next week so there's loads of tactics, backstabbing, switching of alliances and competition.
It amazes me how much better their version is and how ours could do well to copy it.
Also the people in the house didn't need to be overbearingly different to be interesting... about 5 of the girls were equally hot, which made it better because the guys were competing for them depending on which one was in charge at the time.
There was a fight once!
Also the "Twist" was that some of the housmates were Ex's to the others... but they brought them in 1 day later... so if the people in the house already bullshitted, their Ex's could cut them down and make them look like twats. :D
Pity ours is as basic as "Lets put a satan worshipper in with a priest" typical

Some 'ahem' interesting characters there probably and already about six that would wreck my head in about two seconds flat. Usually the first show's a parade of rodentia but seems so far they've largely just gone for the annoying bimbo squad with token shy hefty one. Should get nastier when they filter in the blokes in the form of chav gobshites, panto-villain self-made businessmen and nice-but-dim public-school types.
My only other thoughts are that Tracey looks like Robert De Niro in a pink wig and Carol reminds me vaguely of an angry Aunty Flo off of 'Bod'. Prefer them so far.
Not that I watch it though. It was just on, like.

Well what a complete let down.
The first big brother was interesting. You took people out of society and put them on display. It was good to see real human nature taking place, like a Nature-Programme but with People.
Now, like Wife-swap, it just seems to be a show to test the mental strength of people in an uncomfortable environment... purely a show for Shrinks to enjoy but nothing at all in terms of substance or entertainment.
Seriously, I don't know if the format lasted only 1 season but the American version is soooooo much better it's unbelievable that we haven't used that format.
Especially as Endemol apparently don't make profits from the phone calls this time, you might as well have scrapped the whole public-vote thing completely.
The head of house version provides fights, affairs, back-stabbing, bitching, competition, nudity and plenty of entertainment. The public could still have voted for which game they have to play in order to win HoH status... that way you caould vote for the game you think your favourite person would be good at... and it would get rid of this Panto-Booing.
Also with the American format the housemates have Zero contact with the outside world, so they don't know if they are popular or not, whether they will be Booed or Cheered as they leave... it makes for a much more exciting few weeks that this bunch of women will provide.
Who wants to watch a load of chain-smokers talk about hair dye and make-up? They had Wag's Boutique already...
On Friday they will "Mix it up" by throwing in a Man. 90% Certain it will be either a Geek, A Former Monk or a Flamboyant Homosexual. :o
I could go without this trash TV.

The programme has only themselves to blame for the reoccurrence of this type of incident. A house with 7/8 immature girls, it was only a matter of time before their ignorance led to something controversial happening. It was the same in the Celeb version, a few immature girls thinking they are big and clever.

On Emily's part, I don't believe it was ignorance. The 'N word' has now got two functions in todays society (well in some parts).
1) Racist remark
2) Gangster speak
Emily was using in the second context. The problem with this is that it is seen as socially acceptable within some groups, and is caused by rap music (or trip-hop or whatever it is called). This is double standards as is it is acceptable for a black person to use this word, but not someone of another race. People should make a stand against anyone using this word, including black people. Ban the music that uses this word, and it will mean silly little girls will not even think it could be acceptable.

I don't disagree with this, but without the whole PC-world going mad at me, I'm going to say, that I have friends that use that word when addressing each other, they even use it when referring to me and I'm not black, we use it in banter. Anyone, who has been around multi-ethnic or cultural socities will understand how those terms can be used - a long time before gangsta rap made it "mainstream". However, I have friends I wouldn't dream of using if in their company and I certainly wouldn't use it when addressing someone I don't know.
Its like a lot of obscenities, they can be used to be an insult or almost a term of banter, for example - when arguing with a mate, the words bastard or cunt (just look at this forum - people calling each other cunt and cunter for a laugh!!!) can be used without them being taken offensively (well amongest people I know) but I wouldn't call someone I don't know unless its in extreme situations.

Historical lesson of where the word originated from?
You are right, it shouldn't be used in general conversation by anybody - but you have to understand that a black person saying that word to another black person is hardly the same thing as a white saying it (or anyone from another ethnic group saying the word to that black person). Isn't that obvious?
I hate the word if truth be told.

Thats fine but if you read my original response to this, I'm not condoning the actions of the girl in the house, but my friends use the term amongst themselves and refer to me with that term even though I'm not black, I also use the term back to them and they are perfectly fine with it, as I said in my original post.

There's no hard and fast rule. My girlfriend is black and I'd never use to her although we do quote from Boyz In The Hood from time to time. With some people it's okay and with a load of others it isn't. This girl (who seems genuinely contrite as opposed to the celeb edition) was wrong to guess she had that sort of relation with the other girl (don't know their names). Saw the Dermot programme this morning and she realises her mistake. My issue is with Channel 4 for not dealing with the celeb edition as swiftly as this, probably due to factors such as their own little fat starlet being involved and the inevitable ratings. If Jade Goody had said that this week and it was a one off she'd still be in there.
Still, as long as Paris Hilton's out...

There's no hard and fast rule. My girlfriend is black and I'd never use to her although we do quote from Boyz In The Hood from time to time. With some people it's okay and with a load of others it isn't. Quite...once again Big Brother driving the global news agenda...why don't they just be done with it and put in a Muslim, Palestenian, Iraqi, Jew, Hindu and then only serve beef and Pork

How about me saying to a black person - but not as a derogatory term but in the same banter in which they use it with me?

"Can we just leave it now please" *everyone tries to go to sleep* THEN SHE FUCKING GOES ON AGAIN - JUST FUCK OFF !
Argh, stupid shite TV winding me up!

Something occurred to me about this issue today. If nobody in the house took offence to the comment, then what's the problem? Because Big Brother claims its purpose is to provide psychological observations of people in a demanding situation, the housemates should not have to consider the outside world in anything they say or do.
If comments like that are fine in context, then so they should remain. (Although having said that, white middle aged women would have caused uproar if she'd stayed in - "How dare she use such an offensive term on national television?")

BOTH MATE, sorry.
No one was hung from a tree or burned on a cross for being a b#st#rd (unless they were black as well). Sorry.

That's why it a flawed and bag of sh#te show, in reality the channle/show has to consider the outside world. That is the rules (as have been shown by channel four being "punished).

Is that the crux of your argument? If it is then you don't understand and no amount of explaining from my part will. Just to reiterate my point on BB - i agree the girl was wrong!

I don't see why you are having so much difficulty understanding this, so I'll explain it again, maybe if you took off your PC glasses and read what I have written and think about it, you may understand "wtf" I am talking about!
When the term is used by my friends (and I point out again they are black and most of them are highly educated) it is used as a term of banter between each other and its something they include me in (maybe because I have grown up with them and maybe because I am a minority as well). One of the reasons I gave why we can use it as banter is because they (we) see it as the same as any other obscenity when it's used in banter and I qualified that by saying I wouldn't dream of using either to someone I didn't know.
There's also a whole seperate point that Prince briefly touched on about "owning" the word and disempowering it, that I agree with - but I didn't want to argue that point through.
This is completely different to some middle-classed spoilt brat using it out of context on some reality show.

Everyone has said something stupid that they regret afterwards at some point - myself included on numerous occassions.
Get over it, move on and stop letting these dreadful, attention seeking twats, take up any more of your thoughts and time.

Happy to say I have absolutely no interest in that shite any more. It's so obvious that it's extreme (read mental) personalities, desperate for a deal with Heat in return for aggravation and exploitation by Endemol it's just pathetic. Have only watched the opening night and the 'Emily' incident and will not be seeing it again but just flicking through the channels then I realised there are some more lookalikes.
That Charlie seems to be a young Neneh Cherry with the personality of Vicky Pollard, and Shabnam is surely the female incarnation of that comedian Ross Noble.
